The Golden Touch line was first developed in 1956, with design work led by industrial designer Paul Artem Braginetz.
In the 1950’s, Underwood sought to revitalize its product line by competing both on technical innovations and a fresh, modern appearance.
Models like the Underwood Universal Golden Touch, De Luxe Quiet Tab, and Universal Quiet Tab were key releases. The “Golden Touch” branding referred to both the gold-accented front panel and the superior touch of the keys, designed for a smoother and lighter typing experience.
This ‘Deluxe’ is the most feature-rich of the line, though all of the branded variants are fairly comparable.
A lovely and distinctive 12 character per inch typeface and ergonomic ‘tombstone’ keys.
US QWERTY keyboard and excellent case.
Features:
1-3 line spacing
2 tone ribbon selector
vintage metal ribbon spools
tabulator with tab keys
Beveled glass panels on earlier models
