The Hermes 3000 is the pinnacle of vintage typewriter technology. It was manufactured in Switzerland from 1958 into the 80’s.

Apart from the iconic shell, the innards are brilliantly engineered. The precision engineering makes for a very clean impression and quick, fast typing potential (you’ll still need to learn to type!).

The vases vary slightly. Most are the hard metal case. Some have a vinyl covered case. All work well.

I include vintage metal ribbon spools, wound with new ribbon.

The only option is the condition: you can choose from four conditions, based on your budget.

If you have a typeface preference, let me know. Otherwise, I will send you whichever machine is on hand that is in the best working condition.

The higher condition tiers will usually have original brush and manual, and just have a better body condition. All will work as designed.

These are often in excellent condition, with original paperwork, as they were the highest-end typewriters of the era, and were thus well tended.

We will oil, service, include a new ribbon. Will arrive ready to write via UPS ground.

Pica, Elite, or more rarely, Techno (sans serif) typeface. They sometimes come with script typeface, though that would be a different listing, as those are quite rare.

Beautiful Hermes 3000 with original case, brushes, and original manual in excellent condition.

Please see type sample. All functions work as designed. The platen and the rubber feet are in excellent condition for the age. The case is solid and functions beautifully.

There are only some slight specs of wear on the cover and some larger scuffs on the bottom of the typewriter as shown, which of course doubles as the bottom of the case. None of the customary wear at the corners next to the spacebar.

The keys are in beautiful condition, each letter showing crisply with minimal wear. This machine is in beautiful condition for a 60 year old typewriter.

It has been cleaned and polished. The Chrome has been cleaned and the interior cleaned out and oiled.

Each machine is THOROUGHLY tested by a writer. (Usually people who say a typewriter ‘works’ haven’t tested most of its most important features. Sometimes the type bars move but are misaligned; sometimes the carriage won’t advance; sometimes lesser-used keys stick; sometimes whole pieces are missing, etc).

If it is found to need work, we have technicians with 40 years of experience.

Each machine is cleaned and carefully packaged for safe shipment (believe it or not, improper shipping is the MOST COMMON CAUSE OF DAMAGE for a vintage typewriter).
