Circa 1963 Smith Corona Sterling 5ax Typewriter with Case

Circa 1963 Smith Corona Sterling 5ax Typewriter with Case
I sell these by the model. You’ll get a very similar one to the one shown in the pictures, delivered to your door in about 2 weeks.
The 5AX was produced from1963 to 1966.
They bridge the cap between the older models of the 50’s (like the Silent Super) and the newer ‘Sterlings’ like the Super Sterling and the later 70’s Sterling.
The model is ‘technically’ 5AX (which you’ll see before the serial number).
What sets them apart is their robust, all metal construction, subtle colors, and snappy signature Smith Corona feel.
These were made in the US and all come with a QWERTY keyboard, in either PICA or Elite typeface.
The feet are large rubber blocks and tend to hold up well to time and to grip the surface exquisitely.
Features.
Touch Control
Automatic (or manual) Ribbon Reversal
Fresh Two Tone Ribbon
Single, 1.5, and double spacing.
Smith Corona ‘floating shift’
Rugged metal case
10” Carriage.
Tab set and clear key to the right of the keyboard.
These are serviced by our brilliant Smith Corona factory-trained technician.
They are more resilient than most machine of the era, and elegant to boot. Very little maintenance required and relatively easy ribbon re-load process, with universal ribbon size and the most available spool sizes.
If you're looking for a machine to write on, this is it!
