Circa 1975 Smith Corona Coronamatic Coronet Super 12 Working Restored Vintage Electric Typewriter With Case
You’re in luck. Have you been seeking a vintage writing experience without needing to develop the dexterity and strength in the fingers to write manually?
Coronet Super 12’s were made from about 1973 to 1980. They’re one of the Smith Corona electrics that are work horses, while maintaining some of the beauty of the slightly earlier manuals (Classic 12, Super Sterling, Galaxie Deluxe, etc). [A ‘12’ in the name usually signifies a 12 inch wide carriage. (Most were 10).
We sell these by the model: Order today and you’ll get a VERY similar machine as the ones in the pics; same color, very similar condition, etc.
These are a little bulkier, and heavier than their manual counterparts (due to motor) and come with a very large case. The machines themselves are comparable to a large portable, and the case is fairly massive (see pictures). Though being molded air-filled plastic it weighs almost nothing, and will keep the machine safe in transit.
These take a side loaded ribbon cartridge, which we sell.
This has been serviced by our factory-trained tech, promising to write well for many years to come.
Includes our working guarantee and lifetime trade-in policy.
These are a nice bridge to the manual typewriter world, if you want a typewriter that still feels like a typewriter (as opposed to the Selectric and other electrics that feel more ‘computery’ in my opinion.
We have a handful of these ready, so it should be able to ship within a business day or so.
Anyway, ditch the digital world just long enough to write you dreams into being.
Write on,

FAQ
When will I get my machine?
We ship your writing machine in 2-3 weeks, via UPS ground. (To the US. International shipping requires a few days more, USPS International services). Unless otherwise specified in listing.
What takes that long?
We sell most machines by model, so it takes take a machine out of inventory that matches your specs, and inspect, clean, and service it. This saves time by allowing you to order the one you want.
Can I just find a used machine somewhere instead?
Of course! We encourage you to explore the world. However, it won't quite work right. this is the nature of a machine sitting for decades.
If you need to get to writing, and spare yourself many nights of research and tinkering, we have the solution.
What about 'refurbished' machines on other vintage sites?
Usually, they are just cleaned up slightly and shipped out. They don't usually work 100% (more like 80%). This is because most people have never used a writing machine, so they don't know how it is supposed to work! They see an opportunity to buy a vintage machine and 'flip it', however... you get what you pay for, as the old adage goes!
Why do you charge X?
Excellent question!
Priceless heirloom, endless inspiration, the stuff of dreams.
You’ll pass it to your children or into the annals of history.
Ask yourself what this will bring you, and what you could create with it, and you’ll have answered your question.
We used to focus on ‘working’ machines. And they worked, but we didn’t have time to devote to exceptional machines. IN charging a little more, we can spend more time and give more tender care to each machine, making sure your writing experience is as exceptional as it can be.
